The Planned Giving Officer plays a key role in charitable gift planning and building relationships with planned giving donors and prospects. This professional will promote planned giving throughout the organization, collaborate in the identification and engagement of planned giving prospects, and serve as a liasion to annual campaign divisions.




  • Manage and steward a portfolio of more than 100 existing planned giving donors

  • Work with prospects and their advisors on creating bequests, charitable gift annuities, endowments, and life insurance policies

  • Serve as liasion and resource to annual campaign divisions

  • Partner with the lay committee members to develop and execute planned giving solicitations

  • Implement new strategies to advance the legacy message throughout the organization

  • Draft tailored gift proposals that detail the philanthropic, financial, and tax benefits of various planned giving vehicles

  • Maintain a current knowledge of relevant tax laws and their impact on charitable giving, including regular attendance at educational and professional seminars

  • Develop and deliver presentations about planned giving to staff, donors, and partner agencies

  • Other assignments as needed or directed by departmental management


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 5+ years of development experience

  • Project management experience

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral presentations, and the ability to develop a good rapport with a wide range of people
