With economic uncertainty and volatility returning, potential tax reforms on the horizon, changes in Washington and demographic shifts, how will charitable giving fair in 2016? Which gifts will be more attractive than ever and which types of gifts will face challenges in today's shifting philanthropic environment? This lively and quick-paced presentation is designed to help the frontline fundraiser hit the ground running after the holidays and equip them with answers to address donor concerns when considering larger gifts now or in the future. This session will provide 1 CFRE Continuing Education point.


Presented by

Robert Sharpe has helped many of the nation's leading nonprofits plan, develop and implement successful major gift planning and endowment development programs. His remarks on charitable giving have been featured in leading publications and media including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Newsweek, Forbes, Smart Money, Market Watch, The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Trusts & Estates, Kiplinger's, and other national media. He serves on the editorial board of Trusts & Estates magazine and authors a regular column on philanthropic matters. Robert is a cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University and Cornell Law School.

Barlow Mann has more than three decades of experience in charitable gift planning. Before joining Sharpe, he was director of development at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center where he was responsible for current, deferred and capital giving for the colleges of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and allied health. He also has served as director of planned giving for the University of Memphis. Barlow has authored articles for national publication, including Trusts & Estates, The Journal of Gift Planning and Fundraising Management. He also is a frequent speaker on planned giving topics regionally and nationally. Barlow is a graduate of Tulane University and the University Of Memphis School of Law.
