“New Insights from Data on Planned Gifts - Analysis of Legacy Society Membership Data”

Groundbreaking research commissioned by Pentera, Inc., provides new insights about donors of planned gifts and offers recommendations for planned giving programs. The research study, “New Insights from Data on Planned Gifts,” fills a significant gap in planned giving research.  

Results of the second phase of the three-phase study will be presented by Pentera President/CEO & CMO Claudine A. Donikian, JD, MBA, and Una Osili, PhD and director of research and professor of economics and philanthropic studies at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. 

The study looked at more than 5,000 planned gift donors at the 120 American universities with the largest endowments and then did case studies of four selected universities.

With the charitable giving landscape constantly changing, planned gifts are more important than ever.  Indeed, current giving incentives could be diminished regardless of who wins the November election.  So get ready!   This session will review the latest developments in Congress, the Internal Revenue Service and the courts that affect charitable giving, suggest how to gather windfalls and avoid pratfalls, and address topics on the horizon like expanding the Charitable IRA Rollover to include life-income gifts.

Conrad Teitell, Esq. has lectured in all 50 states and on PBS television on taxes, estate planning and philanthropy. He is a principal in the Connecticut and Florida law firm of Cummings & Lockwood, based in the firm's Stamford office and chairs the firm's National Charitable Planning Group. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law. Read more...
