From the President

"Money is like manure; it's not worth a thing unless it's spread around encouraging young things to grow."

Dear Friends:

Spring is in the air! The cold winter has given way to warmer sunshine, longer days and budding trees and flowers. In spring, PPGGNY does not hold an April monthly session so that everyone can attend our all-day conference, PG Day NYC 2019, on Thursday 5/9/2019. It will be held at the Convene conference center located at 117 West 46th Street in Times Square. The early bird deadline is Thursday 4/18 and we are nearing capacity so please register soon!

We have an impressive line-up of speakers including Robert F. Sharpe, Jr. presenting the plenary session, “Avoiding a ‘Bust’ Before the “Boom.’” The keynote will be delivered by Crystal Thompkins, entitled “Giving: Life Lessons from My Grandmother.” In addition, the three tracks include a variety of speakers and topics that promise to have something for everyone. You can find the schedule here

On behalf of PPGGNY, I want to thank all the sponsors and exhibitors who are supporting us at PG Day NYC 2019. Without them, this event would not be possible. They will have tables in the main hall where you can visit them and find out about their services that will help you and your organization. Please take a moment to meet with them.

It is my privilege to serve PPGGNY with a dedicated and hard-working Board of Directors. As my term as president winds down, we are planning for the next two years with new board members and officers. I am pleased to present the nominations for next year’s slate of Officers:
  • President: Stacy B. Sulman, JD
  • Vice President: Shawn T. Mroz
  • Secretary: Ramona R. Ramadar
  • Treasurer: Michael Pohlmann
  • Immediate Past President: Marilyn Van Houten

We will hold the election of Officers at PG Day. In addition, there are several new board members who will begin their two year terms in July:

  • Emily G. Hirschbein
  • Cynde L. Horne, JD
  • Susan Loucks
  • Barbara Perry Morgan

I hope to see you all on 5/9/2019 at PG Day. Please plan to stay for the brief reception afterward as well to meet your colleagues.

Marilyn Van Houten, JD
