General Description

The Deputy Chief Development Officer for Planned Giving is a senior member of the Development team overseeing all aspects of a comprehensive planned giving program, including identifying, cultivating, and tracking prospects; designing strategy and marketing for planned giving concepts; drafting planned giving proposals; soliciting and stewarding planned giving donors; working with and training the Trustee Planned Giving liasion, the Major Gift Committee, curators and volunteers; coordinating planned giving events; and working as an integral part of the campaign staff.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

·       Manage a robust portfolio of planned giving donors and prospects

·       Write and help execute planned giving marketing collateral for brochures, newsletters, and donor and member literature

·       Maintain completed planned gifts and steward planned giving donors as well as developing a portfolio of prospects and donors

·       Draft planned giving proposals

·       Devise and implement systems for cultivation, stewardship, and prospect and donor tracking on donor database

·       Oversee a staff of two

Requirements and Qualifications

·       Knowledge of specific deferred gift vehicles and tax implications of outright and deferred gifts required

·       10 or more years of experience in Planned Giving preferred

·       Ability to interact with legal and financial professionals, donors and other fundraising staff required

·       Ability to establish necessary rapport and work well with high-level donors and trustees required

·       Ability to work well as part of a team required

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

·       Strong analytical and computer skills required

·       Master’s Degree required, JD preferred

Previous experience with PC Calc and some knowledge of donor database preferred
