With more than 30 years of legal and gift planning experience, Meryl is currently the Senior Director of Gift Planning at Stony Brook University. Meryl joined the Stony Brook Advancement team after spending five years as the Director of Planned Giving for St. Francis Hospital. Prior to joining St. Francis, Meryl honed her philanthropic skills at The Nature Conservancy on Long Island.

As a practicing attorney, Meryl specialized in representing parents of children with disabilities and it was this work (tailoring estate plans to meet the specialized needs of her clients) that sparked her interest in pursuing a career in planned giving. Meryl is a member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) and was elected to serve a three-year term on the National Board beginning January 2018.  Meryl has also spoken at the CGP National Conferences in Orlando, Florida and San Antonio, Texas.

Locally, Meryl has just completed her two-year term as President of PPGGNY and is looking forward to her new role as Immediate Past President.

Meryl received her B.A. from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, where she was an editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. In her free time Meryl enjoys quilting, baking and spending time in front of the TV cheering on the NY Giants and NY Rangers. She is especially excited to add the title of Certified Spinning Instructor to her resume!
